Burmantofts Faience Art Pottery Persian Art Nouveau Very Large 2060 Vase c. For sale is a fantastic item manufactured by the increasingly collected Burmantofts art pottery in Leeds, England in the late 19th Century. The vase is decorated in a stunning Art Nouveau style design which is also reminiscent of the Aesthetic Movement. I believe the pattern is from the Persian range designed by Leonard King and is decorated using the Faience technique. The vase bears the reverse B and F mark to the base for Burmantofts Faience. It is a large and impressive piece which would be a great addition to a collection. It is in very good condition with no immediately obvious chips or cracks. There is however an area of restoration to the rim (as shown in close up and ringed in two photos). This is not immediately apparent and has been sympathetically undertaken. There is expected age related crazing to the green areas and interior(as shown in extreme close up). Indeed the area of restoration to the interior is not crazed which has led me to the conclusion. However the vase is still a stunning piece which displays very nicely.
Please see numerous photos for confirmation of condition and colouring. Size - 33.5cm (13.25 inches) high. Impressed to the base with Burmantofts markings and other markings (as shown in the attached photograph for you reference).
