Rare CHARLOTTE RHEAD Bursley Ware ART NOUVEAU Vase Tubelined SEED POPPY vgc. It is hand-painted in Charlotte Rhead's beautiful design of'Seed Poppy'while the body of the vase itself is Nouveau in style with high, twin handles.

This wonderful organic design (P28) has tubelined, flowing leaves, flowerheads and seeds finished in bright naturalistic hues of olive, sepia, dusky pink, deep rose violet, teal etc on a navy blue ground. The pattern is illustrated on page 35 of the Bernard Bumpus book on'Collecting Rhead Pottery'. The vase is backstamped with the special Bursley Ware, Seed Poppy mark which dates to c1921 while there is also the hand painted pattern number'P 28'. The vase is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or restoration and with bright, fresh, unrubbed paintwork.

There is some expected clean glaze crazing only noted under close examination. The vase measures 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm) high.
